Friend Speaks My Mind: A Quaker Audio Experiment

Friend Speaks My Mind is a new audio project, "exploring the soul of Quakerism."  Through interviews, documentaries, music and other sounds, FSMM seeks to capture the authentic voices and true stories of Friends as they experience Quakerism today.  The time was ripe to try something different, to explore alternative means of story-telling and creative expression about Quaker faith.

These “Sound Journals,” as I’m calling them, are the meeting of two of my deepest sources of inspiration: radio journalism and Quakerism.

And Quakers love radio!

I grew up Quaker in Philadelphia and have since returned, eager to understand my "roots" and its stems of relevancy and vibrancy today.

This project aims to go beyond theology (although theology does play a central role in each episode, of course!) in order to understand who we are and where we are going.  I want to tell the stories of Quakers and the story of Quakerism right now.

I'll shortly be featuring five episodes of the program right here!  On this very blog!

So stay tuned and listen in.
